THE Wannon electorate is now officially regarded as \u201cmarginal\u201d after a big swing away from sitting MP Dan Tehan.<\/p>\n

The Australian Electoral Commission has released the final results from the Wannon electorate showing a 7% swing against Mr Tehan.<\/p>\n

Most of the lost vote benefited independent candidate Alex Dyson, who also outpolled Labor candidate Gilbert Wilson, who suffered a sizeable swing against him.<\/p>\n

Across the electorate, Mr Tehan received a primary vote of 44.46% to Mr Dyson\u2019s 19.29%.<\/p>\n

Labor\u2019s Gilbert Wilson received 19.09%, the Greens Hilary McAllister received 6.37%, One Nations Ronnie Graham 3.24%, UAP\u2019s Craige Kensen 3.27%, independent Graham Garner 2.32% and Liberal Democrats Amanda Mead 1.95%.<\/p>\n

5.25% or 5,603 votes cast were ruled informal.<\/p>\n

The final figures released by the Australian Electoral Commission show that after the distribution of preferences, Mr Tehan won the seat with 53.92% of the vote to Alex Dyson\u2019s 46.08%.<\/p>\n

Mr Tehan has thanked voters for having faith in him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is both humbling and a great honour to continue serving the people of Wannon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs your local Member, I am committed to representing the over three hundred communities that make up our great electorate and every person who resides in them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI will continue to work tirelessly with you to further improve our communities and to deliver my plan for Wannon: better roads and rail; strengthening our economic recovery; delivering regional services; protecting our environment; and delivering community projects,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Independent Candidate Alex Dyson has contacted Mr Tehan to offer his congratulations.<\/p>\n

\u201cDan was very gracious as always, we complimented each other on the spirit in which the campaign was run, and I wished him well for the next three years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In Ararat Rural City, Mr Tehan won all seven polling booths after the distribution of preferences;<\/p>\n
