THE stage is set for tonight\u2019s annual Turner\/Tuckey Cup between the best of the Ararat District juniors and Stawell.<\/p>\n
Ararat coach Scott Turner took the players in a skill session last week, with the game this year set to be played under lights at Alexandra Oval.<\/p>\n
Ararat will be hoping to retain its crown, with last year\u2019s match going down to the wire in difficult conditions at Central Park.<\/p>\n
All four clubs are represented in the squad, with selectors putting together a well-balanced side capable of kicking a big score.<\/p>\n
The match will kick off from 6:30pm. The tournament honours Wimmera legends and ex-AFL players Scott Turner and Brent Tuckey.<\/p>\n
Turner made 144 appearances for Richmond, as well as 59 for his beloved Ararat Rats, while Stawell\u2019s Tuckey played 22 AFL games for Collingwood and West Coast.<\/p>\n
Younger players will also have a busy weekend with the annual Wimmera-Mallee Under 12s carnival at Dimboola.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
