GREAT Western Football Netball Club is a step closer to improved facilities with a substantial cash injection from the Victorian Government.<\/p>\n
Labor Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford was in Great Western on Wednesday announcing $1.5 million into an upgrade of the Great Western Football Netball Club pavilion.<\/p>\n
The need for a pavilion upgrade was identified as a priority within the Great Western Public Park and Gardens Reserve Redevelopment Master plan 2018-28.<\/p>\n
The existing clubroom and amenities do not meet AFL, Cricket Australia and Netball Victoria standards, particularly changeroom accessibility requirements.<\/p>\n
The redevelopment is projected to cost $2.4 million, and the proposed works includes an extension and upgrade of the function room, female friendly and accessible changerooms and toilets, new trainers and medical room, umpire room upgrade, new office and storage area, an extension of the undercover spectator area and refurbishment of the kitchen, canteen and bar.<\/p>\n
Northern Grampians Shire has budgeted a further $460,000 for the project with another $400,000 from the local community.<\/p>\n
Ms Pulford said the government was delighted to deliver funding to make the project a reality.<\/p>\n
\u201cProjects like this make such a difference to our local communities and I look forward to seeing this new pavilion take pride of place in Great Western.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re investing in projects like this because they provide more opportunities for participation and lay the perfect foundation for community sporting clubs to grow their numbers and host events, while also creating local jobs,\u201d Ms Pulford said.<\/p>\n
