IT was all about pacing for Sabine Hamilton, who timed her run to perfection to win the Thompson Family eight kilometre handicap last Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Stawell and Ararat Cross Country Club met in McDonald park, outskirts of Ararat to tackle the beautiful trails. The track had a slight alteration due to the week’s rain turning the bottom part of the clay track un-runnable.<\/p>\n
The club started with a handicap pursuit race with the faster runners, with 11 racers jumping out of the blocks to tackle this much-loved course.<\/p>\n
Shev Healy led the field with just over a kilometre to go, before Hamilton made her move and never looked back.<\/p>\n
Tessa Thompson ended up finishing in second, 1.28 minutes behind the leader while Sue Blizzard came in third.<\/p>\n
The Thompsons \u2013 Tessa and Mark \u2013 finished the fastest female and male respectively.<\/p>\n
Tessa was fastest Female with husband Mark Thompson was fastest Male on course.<\/p>\n
Eric and Bronwyn have sponsored the race since 1999 and were proud to don Hamilton with the winner\u2019s sash and trophy.<\/p>\n
Not only did Hamilton record a her second club win, but a personal-best for the race.<\/p>\n
