ARARAT\u2019s Tristar medical clinic is set to close after the companies administrators failed to find a buyer.<\/p>\n
It was announced this week that 12 of Tristar\u2019s 29 clinics have been sold to one of Australia\u2019s largest medical groups Family Doctor.<\/p>\n
The sale means clinics in places like Horsham, Ballarat, Mildura and Bendigo will continue operating, but Family Doctor were not interested in purchasing the Ararat clinic.<\/p>\n
The future of Tristar has been under a cloud for some time and the company entered voluntary administration in May.<\/p>\n
Tristar Medical Group owes creditors $9.3 million, mostly to Westpac Bank.<\/p>\n
Tristar offered its patients access to bulk billing, making it attractive to many Ararat residents.<\/p>\n
80 per cent of Tristar\u2019s doctors will continue working with the new operator.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s understood all staff working for Tristar will be paid out their full entitlements.<\/p>\n
The Royal Australian College of GPs say more clinics will have to move away from bulk billing as a result of Tristar\u2019s collapse.<\/p>\n
The college’s president Professor Karen Price says Medicare doesn’t pay enough to keep general practices solvent.<\/p>\n
Calls by the Advocate to Tristar\u2019s head office in Mildura and the Ararat clinic went unanswered.<\/p>\n
Ararat residents still have access to a full suite of doctors at the Ararat Medical Centre in High Street.<\/p>\n
