Like his beloved Redbacks, Burger has wasted little time bursting onto the scene in the Country Basketball League this season, with the 17-year-old playing a pivotal role in his side\u2019s undefeated start to the season.<\/p>\n
After the team sat out last year\u2019s competition, the Redbacks are taking no prisoners this time around \u2013 winning their first four matches \u2013 and neither is their crowd which fills the Ararat Fitness and Leisure Centre without fail.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been really good to get the team back together. We\u2019ve all known each other for a little while so we\u2019ve got that connection which is really good,\u201d Burger said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been great to get around a local team again and re-connect with everyone again.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019m quite proud of, I love it. I love getting the local crowd down here on a Saturday night, it\u2019s really good. The crowd really pumps us up and gets us energetic before the games and they get us up and about during those tough times in the games as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Redbacks completed the ultimate double at the weekend \u2013 travelling to Warrnambool on Saturday to record a thrilling two-point victory, before backing it up the following day with a 21 point win over the Surfcoast Chargers at home.<\/p>\n
The Redbacks have a well-earned bye this weekend, before consecutive away matches against Mount Gambier and Millicent Magic.<\/p>\n
In addition to a CBL premiership with his boyhood club in 2022\/23, Burger has his sights set on the upcoming Youth League with the Ballarat Minors \u2013 the under-23 competition which acts as a pathway into the Ballarat Minors NBL1 team.<\/p>\n
