ARARAT RSL has continued with its tradition of supporting the local community with a series of community grants announced last week.<\/p>\n
Twelve local organisations will share in $10,800.<\/p>\n
The successful groups include Lake Bolac Music Club,\u00a0 Ararat Emergency Relief, Moyston Willaura Football Netball Club, Ararat Alexander Croquet Club, Ararat Eagles Football Netball Club, Lake Bolac and District Little Athletics, Ararat Lions Club, Ararat Genealogical Society, Ararat Musical Comedy Society, Ararat Men\u2019s Shed, Ararat Neighbourhood House and Ararat City Band.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the first time in three years the RSL has been able to roll out its community grants program after suffering a big cash flow problem during the pandemic.<\/p>\n
Ararat RSL President Frank Neulist said it was pleasing that the grants program was back on track.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe community grants program is a way of us showing our support for groups in the local community,\u201d Mr Neulist said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been a few years since we have been able to hold the grants. During COVID, we had a big drop in revenue and we were using our resources to keep staff working.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere weren\u2019t a lot of applications to be truthful but I think every group that applied got something,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe committee has looked favourably at this little clubs that don\u2019t have a great way of raising money themselves. We like to look after some of the smaller groups in the community,\u201d Mr Neulist said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s good to be able to give a little bit of money out especially to some of those groups who might be struggling,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
