WORK has started on the upgrades to the nbn Fixed Wireless network in One Tree Hill and Moyston, which will benefit households and businesses across the region.<\/p>\n
The upgrade once complete will provide access to faster speeds and extend the coverage of the nbn Fixed Wireless across Ararat and the wider region.<\/p>\n
It is part of a $750 million investment in the nbn Fixed Wireless and nbn Sky Muster satellite network with $480 million from the Australian Government and $270 million from nbn.<\/p>\n
In a statement, nbn said the upgrade will enable two new high speed fixed wireless plans \u2013 up to 100mbps and 250mbps.<\/p>\n
The upgrade work is scheduled to begin in One Tree Hill and Moyston in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
Upgrade works on a tower will usually require a total of three to four planned service outages over one to two weeks.<\/p>\n
After the tower works are completed, many customers should experience an improvement in speeds on their nbn Fixed Wireless service.<\/p>\n
Impacted homes and businesses should be notified of any outages via their retail service provider.<\/p>\n
Emily Peel, head of nbn Local Victoria and Tasmania, said there is increasing demand for faster internet from homes and business across Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to have begun work upgrading the nbn Fixed Wireless network in One Tree Hill and Moyston, which will be a game changer for up to a million households and businesses across Australia,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese tower works are critical to the delivery of our program but will mean some planned outages that may affect homes and businesses and their ability to use their nbn service while the work is underway. After the tower works are completed, we expect that many customers should experience an improvement in speeds on their nbn Fixed Wireless service.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are asking the community to prepare for these outages and have back up connectivity if they need it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
To minimise disruption, nbn will aim to perform tower upgrade works between 10pm and 10am on weeknights, or where necessary between 6am and 6pm on weekends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
