BUANGOR Community Sports Centre is among 57 projects across Australia receiving funding from the Nutrien Ag Solutions Community Grants Program.<\/p>\n
The program is in its third year and offers grants of up to $5,000 for projects that contribute to community wellbeing and vibrancy in remote, rural and regional communities.<\/p>\n
Buangor Community Sports Centre submitted an application after reading an article in the Ararat Advocate.<\/p>\n
Nutrien Ag Solutions Branch Manager Duncan Thomas said the company is proud to support rural communities to implement future-focused solutions that are both attainable and sustainable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks to our partnership with FRRR, we are able to help local grassroots organisations do more of what they do best. These organisations are the heartbeat of remote, rural, and regional communities, and raising funds for local priority projects is getting harder and harder. But we are proud to support them now, and in the long-term,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we saw almost 200 local Nutrien branches endorse grant applications and we are proud to fund more than a quarter of those projects, including the one here in Buangor.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur people live and work in these communities and thanks to their commitment to building lasting relationships with locals, they know just what projects the community will really value,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Thomas said Buangor Community Sports Centre is a very worthy recipient of the funding.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur team at the Ararat branch love being part of the Ararat and Pyrenees community and we are very proud to support a wide range of projects that meet community needs and enhance our region.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBuangor Community Sports Centre will receive $5000 to update some critical infrastructure of the Cobb and Co Coach House. The building is a central feature for the community sports centre and is a central meeting point for many of the families and community in Buangor,\u201d Mr Thomas said.<\/p>\n
Buangor Community Sports Centre President Josiah Pitcher said the funding would be used to carry out maintenance on the historic Cobb&Co building.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re going to fix up some of the stable doors and windows to make them easier to open up, tidy the place up a bit keep within the heritage of it all.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sports pavilion and the Cobb&Co are great facilities and $5,000 will go a long way and we\u2019re very grateful to Nutrien Ag Solutions for their support,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The fourth round of the Program is expected to open around June 2024.<\/p>\n
Since 2021, the Nutrien Ag Solutions Community Grants Program has awarded more than $750,000 in grants to 167 community-led projects.<\/p>\n
