WHEN David Rosengreen started at Ararat Post Office it was meant to be a two week job.<\/p>\n
Three and a half decades later, the popular postie is about to bid farewell to his role.<\/p>\n
“I was looking for work, went for two job interviews, one at Magnum Video, and the other one was at Australia Post. I went for the interview for Australia Post on the Tuesday, started work the next day.”<\/p>\n
Initially intended as a two-week job, David\u2019s tenure extended far beyond expectations.<\/p>\n
“Thirty-five years later, I’m still here,” he said. “Longest two weeks ever.”<\/p>\n
For David, the day to day connection with the local community has made it all worth while.<\/p>\n
“Meeting people has always been the highlight of the job.”<\/p>\n
“I’ll miss the guys here, miss the cuppa in the morning.”<\/p>\n
However, he looks forward to devoting more time to his other passions, including charity work and video editing with Moriel Ministries Australia.<\/p>\n
Fellow postie Jason Ohayon shares the sentiments of many at the Ararat Australia Post office.<\/p>\n
“He will be sorely missed. It’s going to be hard to replace him. He loves to help everyone, he can\u2019t help himself that\u2019s just the way he is.”<\/p>\n
Scottney Hayter, the manager of Ararat Post Office said David\u2019s departure will leave a big gap.<\/p>\n
“It’s sad to see him go. He\u2019s been part of the furniture for over 30 years at the post office, he\u2019s been that one reliable person there all the time,\u201d: he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDavid is great source of information, nobody here knows as much about deliveries as David does, it will be a very strange place when he leaves,\u201d Mr Hayter said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
