THE Victorian Government has announced it will invest $70,000 into a new vehicle for Ararat SES.<\/p>\n
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, today announced the Ararat SES Unit would receive funding to deliver a Toyota Hilux.<\/p>\n
This is one of 303 grants sharing in more than $14.3 million in funding under the government\u2019s 2020-21 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).<\/p>\n
Under the program, the Government matches every $1 paid by volunteer groups with a $2 co-contribution up to $150,000 per project.<\/p>\n
Ms Pulford said groups like the SES do an amazing job keeping our community safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be another busy summer season for our emergency service volunteers. That\u2019s why we\u2019re helping to give them the equipment they need to continue doing what they do best \u2013 keeping Victorians safe,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis grant for Ararat SES will give the volunteers access to a modern, fitted out vehicle to\u00a0 effectively carry out their duties,\u201d Mr Pulford said.<\/p>\n
The annual grants program gives volunteer emergency service groups the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $150,000 to purchase equipment including vehicles, trucks, tankers, watercraft and trailers, and for minor improvements including refurbishments and amenities, such as kitchens and change rooms.<\/p>\n
Other operational equipment that can be funded includes chainsaws, generators, quick fill pumps and inflatable rescue boats and engines.<\/p>\n
