ONE of Ararat’s most popular musical attractions returns to Ararat Town Hall in October.

Grampians Brass will showcase some of Victoria’s best brass bands on Saturday the 5th of October.

Ararat City Band is hosting the Grampians Brass Festival which presents four renowned brass bands to each year.

This year’s festival will feature Western Brass for a third year along with Harmony Brass and Diamond Valley Brass Band.

The program also sees the return of Ararat City Band to the town hall stage.

Ararat City Band committee members Bruno Andrede and Amy Stevens expressed their excitement about the event.

“The last couple of years have been amazing with the turnout from locals and the support we receive from the town.

“Hopefully this year’s event will attract some new spectators. We have two new bands and a returning runner up from last year which is Western Brass and this year the Ararat City Band will be playing. We have some great local talent to showcase to Ararat,” Mr Andrade said.

Ms Stevens said Ararat City Band hasn’t performed at recent Grampians Brass festivals due to the demands of organising the event behind the scenes.

“It’s really hard to organise and host the event and perform as well. This year we’re hoping it works, we’re trying to encourage other bands to come back by putting on a well organised event as well as entertaining the crowd,” she said.

Mr Andrade said Grampians Brass is one of the most highly regarded brass band events in the state.

“It is becoming a big thing in the brass band world. We even had interest this year from a band in South Australia,” he said.

Ms Stevens said Grampians Brass is a unique festival.

“It’s something completely different because we focus on the entertainment angle. It’s not necessarily the best players that will do well, it’s the ones who can entertain the audience the most, the ones who can put in that little bit extra that goes with music to bring it to life,” she said.

Grampians Brass is supported by Ararat RSL, Ararat Rural City Council and the Ararat Advocate.

The first performance kicks off at the Ararat Town Hall at 7pm on Saturday the 5th of October, 2024.

Entry to the festival is just $15 for adults and $5 for students and children and bookings can be made via the Ararat Town Hall website www.ararattownhall.com.au

ONE of Ararat’s most popular musical attractions returns to Ararat Town Hall in October.
