THE annual Ararat Show is just over a week away and the show committee have been busy making sure the event is a success.<\/p>\n
Show Society President Gwenda Allgood was out earlier this week placing posters in shop windows and show guides on shop counters.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s show will feature the return of horse events to compliment displays of photography, cooking, cake decorating, floral art and crafts.<\/p>\n
Mrs Allgood said the return of horse events was another key step into the rejuvenation of the annual show.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s one of the things that brings people to the show and brings families together and it is quite a spectacular event along with the tractor pull.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe younger people like to go and look at the horses and the older people like to watch the tractor pull,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s photograph competition will feature images taken during and after the Pomonal bushfire.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s show will also feature the usual attractions like rides, showbags, and the popular spinning wheel.<\/p>\n
New additions include wrestling, a display of snakes, reptiles and other fauna, the Mik Maks and a puppet show.<\/p>\n
Steward of the popular tractor pull, Russell Begelhole, said there has been strong interest in this year\u2019s spectacle.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was pleased with last year\u2019s turnout and I\u2019m confident we will do well again.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are all different classes of tractors from under 20s to the open class,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMy little tractor was made in 1944, we have some from back in the 30s,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The 2024 Ararat Show booklet is currently available at numerous businesses around Ararat and shows the various categories and events and information on how to enter.<\/p>\n
The Ararat Show is scheduled to take place on Sunday the 27th of October 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
