WILLIAM Delaney was last week named Ararat Lions Club of Ararat\u00a0 Youth of the Year.<\/p>\n
William is a year 11 student from Marian College who gave a persuasive speech about the plight of Australian businesses.<\/p>\n
His efforts were rewarded by the three judges who were impressed by both his public speaking and his presentation at the interview.<\/p>\n
William will go onto the Zone Competition as the nominee for the Lions Club of Ararat in March 2025.<\/p>\n
The Youth of the Year is a national event for Lions Australia.<\/p>\n
The event begins at a local level with individual Lions clubs hosting club competitions.<\/p>\n
Clubs invite local students to participate in a 40 minute interview with a panel of three judges who are also from the community.<\/p>\n
This is followed by a dinner event at which the students present two impromptu speeches and give a five minute prepared speech.<\/p>\n
Successful students have chance to advance to district, state and national levels.<\/p>\n
