PERFECT spring conditions greeted racegoers at last Sunday\u2019s Ararat Gold Cup.<\/p>\n
Well over a thousand people flocked to Ararat Racecourse for the eight race program.<\/p>\n
Race 7 was the much anticipated Ararat Gold Cup won by Pittsbergh Pirate by two and a half lengths over Staunch and Lottoroc.<\/p>\n
Pittsburgh Pirate also won last month\u2019s St Arnaud Cup.<\/p>\n
Ararat Turf Club said it was delighted with Sunday\u2019s turnout, estimated to be around 1200 people.<\/p>\n
Apart from a big program of racing, the day also included live music, activities for the kids and an array of food.<\/p>\n
Fashions on the Field was also a popular part of the day with Eliza Fraser of Minimay winning the Lady of the Day category and Jack Colantuono selected at Gent of the Day.<\/p>\n
Ruby Preston was successful as Local Lady of the Day.<\/p>\n
