THE on going saga over the restoration of Ararat\u2019s Memorial Fountain continues, with the contractor engaged to carry out the work missing another promised deadline.<\/p>\n
Work on plumbing and wiring was finished before the pandemic but other restoration work ceased at the start of COVID-19.<\/p>\n
Council CEO Tim Harrison received an assurance the work would be complete by the end of June.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s understood the contractor is waiting on a cherub and some orbs before the fountain in fully restored.<\/p>\n
The restoration of the Ararat Memorial Fountain commenced almost three years ago, before Dr Harrison started in the job.<\/p>\n
He was clearly unimpressed when contacted by the Advocate yesterday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m more frustrated than anyone else, I hate unfinished projects,\u201d Dr Harrison said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received an assurance it would be done by the end of June. I\u2019m really unimpressed, I\u2019m annoyed, it\u2019s really time this project was finished,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not good to have an important symbol like the fountain incomplete,\u201d Dr Harrison said.<\/p>\n
The Ararat Memorial Fountain is one of only three in Victoria, the other two are located in Williamstown and Hamilton.<\/p>\n
The restoration of the fountain was announced three years ago after funding was secured from the Federal Government and Ararat Community Enterprise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
