AMBULANCE Victoria in partnership with the Lake Bolac Bush Nursing Centre have provided new uniforms and protective clothing for the squad of Remote Area Nurses who comprise the clinical staff at Lake Bolac.<\/p>\n
The new gear clearly identifies the nurses in the community, especially in their roles as first responders to critical incidents and emergency callouts.<\/p>\n
In the event of a medical or trauma emergency in the community, Ambulance Victoria alerts the Remote Area Nurses to provide emergency care, including administering medications, prior to\u00a0 the arrival of paramedics.<\/p>\n
CEO and Manager of the Lake Bolac Bush Nursing Centre, Jan Milliken, is thrilled with the outfits and is very proud of the highly skilled team she works with.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe community of Lake Bolac is incredibly lucky to have the quality of care provided to them by our nurses,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sure if they are aware that all our nurses are registered Division 1 nurses, with a Remote Area Nurse qualification which they must re-sit every year by passing models of emergency medicine to retain their accreditation. We also have three experienced Ambulance Victoria paramedics on our staff of nine, which is made up of five permanent part-time and four casual Remote Area Nurses,\u201d Ms Milliken said.<\/p>\n
There are 15 Bush Nursing Centres in Victoria and all of them are required to employ Remote Area Nurses because of the need to provide an advanced level of medical training for situations of isolation, limited access to equipment and urgency of response in emergencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
