<\/p>\nQUICK transitions from the classroom to remote learning are becoming the norm for Victorians, but local Year 12 students are struggling with the constant changes.<\/p>\n
Senior students returned home last Thursday with their books, amidst the whisper of a fifth lockdown, and within two hours the nightmare of many had become a reality.<\/p>\n
Marian College Year 12 student, Kira Dunn, said her cohort was devastated as Premier Daniel Andrews announced another obstacle in their final year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re all trying to push through it and get through another lockdown. We have to stay on track because there’s no time to sit and wait,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Miss Dunn is studying Biology, Chemistry, Further Math, English and a university accelerate program with the University of Melbourne.<\/p>\n
She said the daily struggle to find motivation while isolated at home has been the biggest challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cI work through my work quite a lot slower at home so I’m working for longer hours and doing more study,\u201d she said,<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd we missed that foundation from year 11 and now coming in and out of lockdowns in year 12, it’s pretty tough.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fellow Year 12 student, Ethan Laws, is studying at Ararat College and echoed the lack of motivation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s hard to stay on track when you don’t have your teachers standing next to you, making sure you’re getting stuff done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Laws said while lockdown might be a break for younger students, the pressure increases for those like him studying VCE.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s pretty much no different from being at school, your teachers still give you the workload, the expectations remain the same,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the odd lockdown and outbreak happens, it really does affect the routine and it really does affect the schedule. Then everyone’s rushing to get everything done before the next lockdown happens when we are back at school.\u201d<\/p>\n
As of writing, students are expected to return to school on Wednesday, July 28, if lockdown is lifted next Tuesday as planned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
