Fred and Bets Café, Foragers Café and Sede Café have partnered with council to put Respect Victoria stickers on their takeaway coffee cups as a means to bring awareness of the campaign to the community.

“We are always happy to help with any important messages that need to be relayed into the community,” she said.

Bishal Khanal, owner of Sede Café said they have received a positive response from the community on their takeaway coffee cups featuring Respect Victoria stickers.

“I’m really pleased with the community’s response about our involvement with the campaign – their support means a lot and has helped our business too.”

“It’s great to be part of a good cause and Council made it easy to get involved with the campaign, they even provided the stickers,” he said.

“I encourage all businesses in town to get involved – all businesses are different, but I hope they get involved in their own way. It’s important to get our community thinking about and speaking more on the topic of gender-based discrimination.

“It’s a really great cause and I hope more businesses get involved next year.”

“Everybody has a right to a safe, equal and respectful future, regardless of their gender.

“To bring about change, we need to consciously ‘unlearn’ attitudes of bias, prejudice and intolerance that can destroy lives.

“These 16 Days of Activism serve to remind us that together, we must call it out, every day of the year,” Cr Armstrong said.
