BY the time Mick Menzies closes his doors on Christmas eve, he and his bakers will have supplied over eight thousand Christmas tarts to the Ararat community.<\/p>\n
Christmas tarts are incredibly popular in Ararat according to Mick, with his Bakers Delight store producing one on average for every man, woman and child living in Ararat.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was pretty surprised when I looked at the numbers, we bake day by day but eight thousand we\u2019ll make for the Christmas period. The majority are lemon but don\u2019t forget the old favourite fruit mince,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition to thousands of Christmas tarts, Bakers Delight are also baking traditional fruit cakes and they\u2019re preparing for an influx of people buying bread on Christmas eve.<\/p>\n
\u201cChristmas eve is one of our busiest days of the year, a lot of people place orders but we usually have enough of everything right up until closing time,\u201d Mick said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe lead up to Christmas is probably out busiest time of year and then we get into making hot cross buns,\u201d<\/p>\n
