FORMER Ararat Mayor Fay Hull will chair a community panel tasked with guiding the future of water and wastewater services for the region.<\/p>\n
The role of the community panel is to provide opinion, advice and recommendations on GWMWater\u2019s pricing proposals and matters of significance, for the 2023-2028 water price review submission to the Essential Services Commission.<\/p>\n
Mrs Hull will draw on her wealth of experience in governance and community engagement to help guide the process.<\/p>\n
She said the success of the Community Panel was reliant on attracting a diverse group of community members to provide feedback on GWMWater\u2019s proposals to improve or maintain service across its large geographic footprint.<\/p>\n
\u201cI encourage people from all walks of life to apply to join the community panel,\u201d Mrs Hull said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s very important that people from the community have their say.<\/p>\n
\u201cOffering your time to share your views gives you the opportunity to influence the outcome,\u201d Mrs Hull said.<\/p>\n
GWMWater Chairman Peter Vogel OAM said being part of the panel did not require any special knowledge or expertise.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity for community members to shape all dimensions of GWMWater\u2019s service offering to communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mrs Hull said she was looking forward to making a positive contribution.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am really exited and I think with my previous experience I can make a positive contribution,\u201d Mrs Hull said.<\/p>\n
The Community Panel will meet for up to five half days from March to June 2022.<\/p>\n
