{"id":668,"date":"2022-02-12T12:07:07","date_gmt":"2022-02-12T01:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theadvocate.net.au\/?p=668"},"modified":"2022-02-12T12:07:07","modified_gmt":"2022-02-12T01:07:07","slug":"turning-100-in-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theadvocate.net.au\/2022\/02\/12\/turning-100-in-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Turning 100 in style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GLORIA Pyke knew last Sunday was going to be a special day with family and friends, but she never could imagine how her day would transpire.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Pyke, a resident at Stawell\u2019s Eventide Homes, was looking forward to lunch at Pomonal Estate to celebrate her 100<sup>th<\/sup> birthday.<\/p>\n<p>But the day took an unexpected twist, when she was driven to Stawell Airport and helped onto a waiting helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>She was flown by Grampians Helicopters to her lunch engagement at Pomonal and \u201cenjoyed every minute\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Pyke was born in Oakleigh and moved to Stawell with her family as a young girl.<\/p>\n<p>She married Stawell local Cliff Pyke when she was 19 years old and they had 51 happy years together before his passing.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Pyke had lived independently at home in Stawell until about six months ago and has settled in well at Eventide Homes.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Pyke has three children, ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GLORIA Pyke knew last Sunday was going to be a special day with family and friends, but she never could imagine how her day would transpire.
