ARARAT residents are being urged to have a say on the benefits of street trees through an upcoming seminar and online survey.<\/p>\n
Ararat Landcare Group is inviting members of the public to a free seminar on Tuesday March 1st<\/sup> to hear about and discuss the benefits and future of trees, both in backyards and in local streets.<\/p>\n The seminar will feature two prominent speakers \u2013 former TV weatherman Rob Gell and horticulturalist and educator Doctor Greg Moore.<\/p>\n Mr Gell is a trained coastal geomorphologist and geography teacher and is a passionate\u00a0 environmental campaigner.<\/p>\n He is also the co-founder of the ICES Green College (International College of Environmental Sustainability) headquartered in Melbourne.<\/p>\n Dr Moore was the Head of Burnley (horticultural) College and has a specific interest in the scientific study of the cultivation and management of trees.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all know the relief and pleasure of standing under a shady tree on a hot summer\u2019s day,\u201d said Ararat Landcare President, Russell Pearse.<\/p>\n As well as discussing the benefits of trees and the challenges of maintaining and managing street trees and our backyard trees in a changing climate, this seminar includes a bus tour to several sites of interest in Ararat.<\/p>\n Morning and afternoon tea and lunch are provided.<\/p>\n
