THE owners of Lake Bolac Caravan Park say they\u2019ve been run off their feet over summer thanks to the influx of many workers to the area.<\/p>\n
Joint proprietor, Lorraine Deutsch, said the caravan park experienced a busier than normal December and January.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason for the good number of workers was the grain harvest. It had been a good season for grain and the addition of rainy days meant that workers had to stay for longer at the park in order to get the job done after the weather had put their work on hold.\u201d<\/p>\n
Grain harvesters were not the only workers staying at the park. The Deutsch family (Frank, Lorraine, and Randall) hosted several shearers and geologists as well.<\/p>\n
When asked about the numbers of tourists staying at their park over the summer, Mrs Deutsch reported that this season had been much better than the previous two.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had many Victorians stay with us, who felt that it was safer sticking to Victoria in case there was a lockdown.\u201d<\/p>\n
Other than workers and new tourists, the Deutsch family welcomed whom they refer to as their \u201cannuals\u201d. These are people from all over regional and metropolitan Victoria who spend some of the summer at the Lake Bolac Caravan Park.<\/p>\n
Mrs Deutsch said that she considers these annual visitors as friends. She even has some artwork adorning the reception area that was gifted to her by one of her annuals.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of people book in because it is quiet and peaceful. They like to get away from the Big 4s,\u201d Mrs Deutsch said.<\/p>\n
A busy summer at the Lake Bolac Caravan Park has enormous benefits for other businesses in Lake Bolac like the pub, caf\u00e9 and supermarket, with the influx of people buying meals, groceries and fuel.<\/p>\n
