ABC Ballarat radio presenter Steve Martin has been secured to moderate a debate in Ararat later this month involving the candidates running at the federal election.<\/p>\n

The Wannon debate has been arranged by the Greater Ararat Business Network along with the Ararat Advocate and Pyrenees Advocate and aims to give local residents access to the people vying to be the next member for Wannon.<\/p>\n

All six Wannon candidates have indicated they will attend the forum.<\/p>\n

Sitting MP Dan Tehan, Labor\u2019s Gilbert Wilson, independent Alex Dyson, Liberal Democrat Amanda Mead, United Australia Party\u2019s Craige Kensen and the Greens Hilary McAllister are all scheduled to appear.<\/p>\n

Steve Martin has been a familiar voice to the region since the ABC opened its Ballarat station in 2003.<\/p>\n

He currently presents the breakfast program on ABC Ballarat 107.9fm and has also worked in other areas of the media as a producer, tv news cameraman and journalist.<\/p>\n

President of the Greater Ararat Business Network, Cam Conboy, said the forum will allow all points of view.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really excited to be hosting this forum. It will give the Ararat community a direct link to the people wanting to represent them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are encouraging vigorous but respectful debate and I\u2019m delighted all of the candidates are prepared to come to Ararat to answer questions and put forward their ideas for the future,\u201d Mr Conboy said.<\/p>\n

The forum is being held in the function room at Ararat RSL on Tuesday the 26th<\/sup> of April commencing at 7.30pm.<\/p>\n

People attending can also book in for a meal in the RSL dining from 6pm by calling 5352 2794.<\/p>\n

Wannon is regarded as a \u201cfairly safe\u201d Liberal seat and was won by Mr Tehan at the last election with 60.3% of the two party vote.<\/p>\n
