Sheep Dog Trials commence next week

By Max McLean.

OUR 94th Annual Moyston Sheep Dog Trials will be held at the Moyston Recreation Reserve from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th March.

Our trials are the longest continuously running trials in Australia and with a lot of luck we managed to hold them during the main COVID times.

The program for the trials will be starting with the Novice Trial and Finals on Thursday, then the Heats of the Improvers/Open trial starting after the novice Final and continuing into Friday and Saturday.

Then we will run the Encourage Trial and finish off on Saturday afternoon with the Improvers/Open Final and Trophy Presentations.

Buy the The Ararat Advocate print edition, which has full coverage of all the region’s news and sport.

This year we have 35 entries in the Novice, 54 in the Improver/Open, and 11 in the Encourage – which is 30 more than last year.

Friday night we will have the monthly “Community Dinner”, and this will be followed by the BRACE Trial which is one worker with 2 dogs working the 3 sheep.
