Golfers chip in funds for Elmhurst Nursing Centre

By Geoff Penna.

AMID threatening rain clouds, golfers were not deterred from contesting a  three-person Ambrose event in Elmhurst recently to raise funds for the local Bush Nursing Centre.

The fundraising initiative launched by the small, but enthusiastic membership of the Elmhurst Golf Club drew great support with 30 golfers hitting off on the extremely well-maintained and picturesque nine-hole course.

The Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre raised over $2,000 from the event that will assist in the purchase of essential equipment for the centre that will benefit clients in the Elmhurst, Landsborough, Amphitheatre, Warrak and Crowlands areas.

Golfers travelled from afar – Seymour, Ballarat and St Arnaud, as well as nearby areas.

Both the club and Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre managers had attracted enormous support from local and interstate businesses in providing extensive prizes and raffle options.

Due to the success of the day, there has already been discussion within the club that the challenge could be an annual calendar event.
