Local winery SubRosa, co-founded by winemaker Adam Louder and partner Nancy Panter, is celebrating a prestigious accolade: a five-star rating in the 2025 Halliday Wine Companion for the first time.
“It’s great to be recognised as one of the top producers in Australia by the Halliday team,” said Adam Louder, SubRosa winemaker and co-founder. “This honour highlights our dedication to produce premium cool-climate wines.”
Founded in 2013, SubRosa has built a reputation for producing premium, small-batch wine from fruit grown in the cool climate regions of the Grampians and Pyrenees. In 2019, the winery was recognised as one of the Best New Wineries by Halliday Wine Companion, and now, in 2024, it has earned the highly coveted five-star rating.
According to the Halliday Wine Companion, a five-star winery is an “outstanding winery capable of producing wines of very high quality” and must have at least two wines rated at 95 points or above.
“There is no room for error when you are a very small winery,” said Nancy Panter, SubRosa co-founder. “Adam is an incredibly talented winemaker. He’s completed 40 vintages around the world, which speaks to his passion and skill in crafting exceptional wines.”

“Halliday ratings are important for our reputation. A five star rating will help build reputation and trust with our customers, industry and export partners.”
