Pink Day just around the corner

STAFF at Ararat RSL are again doing their bit to raise funds for breast cancer with their annual Pink Day just around the corner.

The RSL staff are planning a fun day of activities and music next Friday the 18th of October.

The day kicks off at 10.30am with the traditional ‘Pink Morning Tea’ where a selection of cakes and slices will be served along with an informative talk from breast cancer nurse Sarah.

Fundraiser co-ordinator Margaret Kelly said the morning tea was always popular with local residents.

“It promises to be a heart warming gathering where we come together as a community to show our support and solidarity,” she said.

Then in the evening, the ‘Pink Night Event’ kicks off in the RSL function room with live music from 7.30pm by local artists Declan Sheffield and S.O.F.T.

“This promises to be a night of entertainment, celebration and unity as we work towards our fundraising goals,” Ms Kelly said.

There will be raffle tickets on sale throughout the day featuring prizes donated by numerous local businesses.

The first prize is a dinner for six prepared by Jody+Co Catering as well as an umbrella package at the Ararat Cup donated by Ararat Turf Club as well as many other prizes.

Last year, the event raised $5,178 which was donated to the oncology ward at Ararat Hospital which was used to purchase a blanket warmer.

Ms Kelly was this week out collecting donations for the big day.
