ARARAT Lions Club has a proud tradition of serving the Ararat community.
This weekend, the Lions Club is opening its doors to showcase to the public what the club is about and what it achieves.
The Lions clubrooms will be open on Saturday and Sunday and will also include a Monster garage sale with plenty of bargains.
President Peter McNeill said it was the first time Ararat Lions have held an event like this.
“We’re very excited to welcome the community to the club house to talk to our members about the Lions Club and what they can do to help give back to our local community,” he said.
Buy the The Ararat Advocate print edition, which has full coverage of all the region’s news and sport.
“Whist people are there they can come check out the Monster Garage Sale held over the two days, there’s something for everyone.”
There will also be spot giveaways, with lollies and ballons for the kids as well as sales of Lions Christmas cakes and puddings.
In addition, there will also be a silent auction for a 1944 bottle of Seppelt Para Port valued at over $300.
Mr McNeill said the club has ambitious plans for next year.
“Everyone is looking forward to 2025 with many exciting new projects in the pipeline,” he said.
While many local residents will know the Lions Club best for its Saturday morning sausage sizzle in Barkly Street, there is so much more.
The club gives members the opportunity to better the community, network with other residents, create new friends and develop leadership skills.
The Lions Open Day will take place at the Lions clubrooms in McNeill Street on Saturday from 8.30am to 2.30pm and Sunday from 9am to 2pm.
