A lifetime caring for others
GARRY Tierney clearly likes people.
About a minute into my interview with Garry I realise he’s the real deal, a nurse with 45 years under his belt who still has a passion for people and caring for them.
Garry has been at Willaura Hospital for three years, following a long stint working as a nurse in Ararat and New South Wales.
He started training 45 years ago at Sydney’s Adventist Hospital in 1977 in a class of eight men and 32 women.

Bins delayed
THE rollout of a four-bin waste disposal program across Ararat Rural City has been delayed until October.
A recent meeting of council was informed the revised date will give council staff more time to roll out the four bin system across the Ararat municipality and deliver more than 20,000 new bins to urban and rural households.
It was also argued the additional time will give council more opportunity to implement an effective community engagement strategy to ensure a smooth transition.
