Lloyd Spiegel Ararat bound
ACOUSTIC Blues master Lloyd Spiegel started out on a mammoth tour of Australian in 2019 to get people acquainted with the new tracks of his 10th album ‘Cut and Run’ but plans were put into disarray due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
He was booked to entertain Ararat fans in May 2020, but now he’s confirmed for a one off show for Ararat Live on Wednesday 20th July.

Bins delayed
THE rollout of a four-bin waste disposal program across Ararat Rural City has been delayed until October.
A recent meeting of council was informed the revised date will give council staff more time to roll out the four bin system across the Ararat municipality and deliver more than 20,000 new bins to urban and rural households.
It was also argued the additional time will give council more opportunity to implement an effective community engagement strategy to ensure a smooth transition.
Police target speeding on local backroads
LOCAL Police are patrolling backroads across Ararat Rural City in a bid to curve the number of accidents and deaths on country roads.
Operation SPEEDIE ties in with the Victorian Police Road Safety Strategy that states death and serious injury are not inevitable, they are preventable!
Ararat Police members as well as officers based in Elmhurst, Willaura and Lake Bolac are regularly patrolling quieter country roads and running random speed tests in an effort to get drivers to slow down.
End of an era, HMAS Ararat II decommissioned in Darwin
THE navy ship carrying the Ararat name is no more, with the official decommissioning of HMAS Ararat II on Saturday the 2nd of July.
The Royal Australian Navy decommissioned the Armidale Class Patrol Boat at a ceremony in Darwin following 16 years of service.

Lions benefit from pub raffle
MONEY raised from the weekly raffle at Lake Bolac’s historic pub will be put to good use by the Willaura Lions Club.
Publicans Bernie and Jason Parr donated the proceeds of the raffle – $1240.00 – to Willaura Lions during their meeting at the pub in early June.
