Gardens to help resident bloom in Ararat and Willaura
THE Victorian Government is brightening the lives of Victorians living in Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services with $1.68 million in grants to improve or construct kitchen gardens.
Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt recently announced more than 70 aged care services have received funding through the second round of the Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services (PSRACS) and Community Kitchen Garden Initiative.
Among the grants are $5,000 for Parkland House and Willaura Nursing Home and a further $10,000 for Garden View Court Hostel and 70 Lowe Street.
Celebrating 110 years of Australia’s Red Cross
TATYOON Red Cross is set to celebrate 110 years of Australian Red Cross services in Australia.
Tatyoon Red Cross was formed in 2016, just two years after the Red Cross was formed in Australia.
The club is planning a milestone event to commemorate the group’s contributions, including efforts their members took in during World War II, where between 1941 and 1947, they sewed or knitted 698 items and packaged food for the British Appeal.

70 years of ladies bowls
ARARAT Bowling Club recently celebrated the 70th anniversary formation of the ladies club.
The celebration was held in conjunction with the clubs annual tournament and attracted a large crowd.
The inaugural meeting of associates of the Ararat Bowling Club was held on Monday 18th October 1954 where a total of 42 ladies were accepted to the club.

40 years of Ararat Probus
ARARAT Probus Club has reached an important milestone as members prepare to celebrate the club’s 40th anniversary.
Initially established as the Ararat Men’s Probus Club in 1984, Probus has been a club of friendship, fun and acceptance for hundreds of Ararat retirees.
Ararat resident Athol Graham, who celebrated his 99th birthday this year, is the only remaining member of the original committee and was club President in 1991/92.
The ‘men only’ club made what is regarded as its biggest change in 2011 when it decided to admit women members.
Three ladies were inducted – Bev Walker, Elaine Phillips and Marg Kilpatrick.
Today, the club boasts 69 active members including 30 women.
